Who We Are
Founded in 1927, Alpha Gamma Omega is the only Christian fraternity at UCLA. Our mission is win others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to be a witnesses to the Greek system. As a Christian fraternity, we encourage all of our members to plug into campus ministries. We host events such as Campus Crusade’s Santa Monica Homeless outreach, where students can come and prepare food for the homeless every Tuesday night. We also host many other events and make it a priority to to have our house available for speakers and social gatherings.
Our members are required to attend a church during the duration of their education at UCLA. We highly encourage involvement with a church because even though Alpha Gamma Omega is a Christian organization, we cannot replace the physical church community as the body of Christ. Examples of local churches our members attend are University Bible Church, Shoreline, and Reality LA.
We also enjoy being heavily involved in the UCLA community. All of our fraternity and sorority events are alcohol free. Our aim is to share the Gospel and show that people can have a good time without drinking. Some of our past events include rock wall climbing, laser tag, mini golf, and broomball.
Although our main focus is on the Greek system, we have a passion to reach out to every aspect of UCLA life. We attend events such as the Beat ‘SC Bonfire, the UCLA Dance Marathon, Relay For Life, and UCLA organized intramural sports. Our two main outreach events are our Thanksgiving Dinner and Thursday Night Barbecues. Our Thanksgiving Dinner is our most celebrated event, where we serve 200+ people a catered Thanksgiving meal. However, we are also known for our evangelistic Thursday Night barbecues, where we invite people on the row to enjoy free burgers, hot dogs and water, and hang out in an alcohol-free environment.
Deepening the spiritual lives of our members is an utmost priority. One of the most important aspects about AGO brotherhood is that each new member is given a Big Brother who will be a discipler for the duration of a quarter. In addition, we are called to keep every member accountable for his spiritual and social behavior. Accountability groups of three or four members are also set up for us to share our praises, struggles, and weekly updates. Every Thursday Night before barbecuing, we gather for a time of bible study and worship music. Each quarter the whole fraternity takes a weekend to go on a retreat to get away from our busy lives, focus on God, and strengthen fellowship.
Above all else we are a group of men that believe Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, desire God to conform us to the likeness of His Son, and strengthen each other in our relationship with Jesus.
Purposes
Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as personal savior, we, as Christian young men of Alpha Gamma Omega Fraternity, purpose that it shall be the aim of this fraternity:
▪ To win others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ,
▪ To promote Christian Fellowship,
▪ To present Christian ideals in word and deed,
▪ To search reverently for the Truth,
▪ To uphold the traditions and ideals of the university,
▪ And to deepen the spiritual lives of the members
Statement of Faith
“I hereby publicly confess my belief in the Lord Jesus Christ as God and only Savior and give witness to the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit in my life. I will make it a purpose of my life to continue in fellowship with God through prayer and the reading of the Holy Scriptures.”
